Knowledge, Experience and Empathy
Thankfully, I found an agent who had the knowledge, experience and empathy to skillfully guide me through a stressful and very complex process.
It really is true that what you don’t know can hurt you. What I did not know about the day-to-day movement of the residential real estate market and a sound strategy for selling my house could fill a book. What I might have done on my own, in ignorance, could have done me in.
Yvonne Huh has what is takes to make the process less daunting. What I discovered is that I was too close to the matter to really assess the current market value of my home. Yvonne and her colleagues pooled their insight to give me a clear and realistic range of estimates. She was also helpful and patient with me until I understood why my taste in décor and the accumulation and display of stuff over twenty-five years was not necessarily that of the buyers and that the house had to appeal to as many of them as possible. She proved to be an effective facilitator of the whole process and was particularly helpful in determining the sweet spot between how little and how much to spend on getting the house ready to show.
Finally, her recommendations on tradesmen to do the needed work were excellent. The work was done well, was timely and fairly priced. As a first-time seller, I admit to not really understanding what she did as an agent to justify her commission. Now I do and can say that it is worth it.
